High single-pass small signal gain in Femtosecond Solid State Yb:CaF2 Amplifiers Pumped by a 976-nm YDFA

We demonstrate an enhancement of the single-pass small signal gain up to 3.2 in a longitudinal pumping scheme by using a 10 mm-long Yb:CaF2 crystal at room temperature. This result significantly outperforms any CW-diode pumped scheme.
