Optofluidic Waveguides with Ta2O5 Cladding Layers and Low Photoluminescence

Abstract

A new type of hollow core waveguide fabricated with Ta2O5 and SiO2 films is demonstrated. The photoluminescence background of ARROW waveguides is decreased significantly by replacing Si3N4 with Ta2O5 films, while maintaining low optical losses.
