Abstract

Longitudinal stress reduces the stimulated-Brillouin-scattering threshold in a silica-fiber parametric amplifier, allowing ditherless pumping. This enables phase conjugation of a 21.4-Gbaud 16-QAM signal with less than 0.6-dB penalty.
