Tunable Graphene-based Metamaterial Terahertz Modulators

Abstract

We demonstrate metamaterial-based electro-absorption THz modulators employing frequency-selective-surfaces (FSS) and graphene. By placing the graphene layer at an optimal distance from the FSS, the sensitivity of THz transmittance can be greatly enhanced.
