Mid-IR and Near-IR Photoluminescence of Fe2+ and Cr2+ ions in ZnSe excited via ionization transitions

Abstract

Spectroscopic characterization of Iron and Chromium doped ZnSe under visible excitation into the charge transfer bands of Transition Metal ions is reported. Energy transfer rates to the upper laser level are sufficient for population inversion.
