Abstract
Random domain structures in orthorhombic strontium tetraborate (α-SBO) are capable in enhancing nonlinear optical conversion efficiency for large variety of processes throughout all transparency window of this material, down to 121 nm. Properties of the material, origin of domains, frequency doubling and autocorrelation measurements, conversion of supercontinuum to UV and continuously tunable VUV generation are described. Prospects of biphoton field generation in α-SBO are discussed.
