Abstract

We demonstrated the nonlinear mechanics of an optomechnaically driven silicon membrane suspended 100nm over a nearby substrate. The estimated optical force-induced Duffing nonlinearity is 1028Hz2/m2, significantly larger than that afforded by the nonlinear Casimir potential.
