Guided Acoustic Wave Brillouin Scattering in Air

Abstract

Stimulated forward Brillouin scattering is observed in air in a hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber. A single resonance is observed at 35 MHz. The frequency, linewidth and coupling agree with theoretical predictions.
