Enhancing Performance of Fiber-based FWM in Coherent Communication System by SBS-Induced Nonlinear Phase

Abstract

We demonstrate the use of SBS to re-establish phase-matched condition for four-wave mixing in a coherent communication system. A 6.6 dB Q-factor improvement along with 11.5 dB OSNR enhancement is obtained in the output idler.
