High peak power Erbium-Ytterbium single frequency pulsed fiber amplifier using a compressive strain gradient

Abstract

We report on a 385W peak power single-mode single-frequency pulsed fiber amplifier using a compressive strain gradient reaching 24% optical-optical efficiency. This is the highest combination of peak power and efficiency for such an amplifier.
