Cladding-Dependent Nature of Electro-Optic Effects in Silicon Waveguides

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate how dielectric claddings can alter the nature of capacitively-induced electro-optic effects in silicon waveguides. The free-carrier effects reported here can be extended to the study of any dielectric-clad semiconductor waveguide.
