Ultra-high Q Whispering Gallery Mode Electro-optic Resonators on Silicon Chip

Abstract

We show the ability of silicon photonics to overcome the long-standing challenge of efficient integrated coupling to ultra-high Q whispering-gallery-mode Lithium-Tantalate and Lithium-Niobate resonators. Coupling efficiency exceeding 90% with Q~45 millions is demonstrated.
