Optical Torque in Integrated Silicon Waveguides Induced by Photon Spin Angular Momentum Transfer

Abstract

We experimentally measured the twisting optical torque exerted on integrated rectangular silicon waveguides, induced by the photon spin angular momentum transfer, when the polarization state evolves as the photons propagate, due to the waveguide birefringence.
