Demonstration of all-optical tunable buffering using coupled ultra-high-Q silica toroid microcavities

Abstract

We describe the first experimental demonstration of all-optical tunable buffering with coupled silica toroid microcavities. We prove that a 10-ns optical pulse can be buffered for 20 ns thanks to the microcavities’ ultra-high Q factor.
