Initiating Kerr-Soliton Frequency Combs Apart from Thermal Bistability and Mode Perturbation Effects

Abstract

We implement an optical single-sideband, suppressed-carrier modulator with a Kerr microcomb pump laser. Rapid frequency scanning enables exploration of Kerr-comb physics, and practically reduces its sensitivity to challenging resonator thermal bistability and mode-structure imperfection effects.
