Abstract

A finite-element-method model of the terahertz scanning tunneling microscope experiment is built to simulate the propagation and coupling of THz pulses to the STM junction. Analytical waveform calculations using discrete dipoles reproduce the main features of the scattered THz fields in comparison with the simulations.
