Pure Amplitude or Frequency Modulation of a Quantum Cascade Laser by Use of an Integrated Heater

Abstract

We present pure amplitude and frequency modulation realized electrically in a quantum cascade laser (QCL) equipped with an integrated heater (IH), achieved by simultaneously modulating the QCL and IH currents with proper amplitudes and phases.
