We unfold the design principles for heterogeneously integrated III-V-on-silicon microdisk unidirectional singlemode lasers. Our simulations suggest hybrid modes between the vertically coupled III-V and silicon microdisks of different radii. Our experiments reveal unidirectional singlemode lasing.
