Terahertz Kerr Effect in β-Alumina Ion Conductors

Abstract

We present THz Kerr effect spectra of Na, K, and Ag β-alumina solid-state ion conductors as model systems for grid-scale battery applications. We show both a field-following response consistent with electronic polarization, and a slower relaxation consistent with translation of mobile ions.
