GHz Photon-number-resolving Detection with InGaAs/InP APD

Abstract

Combining ultrashort gates and the robust spike-noise suppression technique, we demonstrate an InGaAs/InP APD based photon-number-resolving detector capable of distinguishing up to 3 photons with the detection efficiency as high as 40% at 1 GHz.
