Optically-feedbacked mode-locked laser diode for tunable narrow-linewidth photonic millimeter-wave generation

Abstract

A tunable narrow-linewidth photonic millimeter-wave generation scheme is demonstrated by using a mode-locked laser diode with optical feedback. Photonic mode beating signal tunable from 42GHz to 293GHz with a linewidth of several kHz is obtained.
