Abstract

A 10 μm CO2 laser optically pumped by a tunable Fe:ZnSe laser is reported. Gain dynamics, slope efficiency, and self-focusing are studied, demonstrating potential use of an optically pumped CO2 medium for picosecond pulse amplification.
