Abstract

We demonstrate a compact, metasurface-based sensor. Techno-economic analysis predicts a ~$2,400 device capable of detecting changes in the refractive index of a liquid of ~2*10−8; prototype demonstrates 820% change in transmittance per refractive index unit.
