Abstract

An optomechanical system that couples external torque to the harmonic vibrations of a photonic crystal nanobeam is presented. Measurements reveal torque sensitivity Of τmin ~ 10-22 — 10-19 nh/Hz for mechanical frequencies spanning MHz-GHz.
