Nonvolatile electrically controllable broadband switches based on phase-change material GST

Abstract

In this work, we report a nonvolatile electrically programmable broadband silicon photonic switch based on phase-change materials Ge2Sb2Te5 with compact coupling length (50 µm), small crosstalk (<-8 dB) across the entire telecommunication C-band, and record-high endurance (>2,800 cycles).
