Nonlinear optical gain modulation: a novel method to generate highly-coherent femtosecond pulses

Abstract

We report a new method to transform continuous-wave single frequency laser into femtosecond pulses by nonlinear optical gain modulation, opening a new possibility to obtain highly-coherent pulses with flexible wavelength.
