Resonant Acousto-optic Modulator using Thin-film Lithium Niobate on Sapphire

Abstract

We demonstrate an integrated acousto-optic phase modulator using thin-film lithium niobate on sapphire. The phase modulation is strongly enhanced by a high-Q acoustic resonance at 700 MHz and leading to several higher-order optical sidebands.
