Cryogenic calibration of photonic circuits using the reversible deposition of xenon

Abstract

We realize reconfigurable photonic devices that, once configured, consume no power. Here, we use the controlled deposition and sublimation of xenon to achieve π-phase shifts over a minimum length of just Lπ = 12.3±0.3 µm.
