Abstract

A feasibility study has been performed to determine whether the WINDSAT telescope subsystem, originally designed as a shuttle-based experiment, might be lightweighted and adapted for a TIROS type operational platform. The greatest challenge is in retaining the diffraction limited performance despite the weight reduction, using the same optical design concept.
