Abstract

The photon detector is an essential component for all CO2 laser radar systems, the most desirable characteristic for the heterodyne mode being high quantum efficiency. For high frequency use most detectors are photo-voltaic Cadmium-Mercury-Telluride operating at 77K, with a greater than 1GHz capability.
