Abstract

There are numerous materials used for field targets in the calibration of lidar systems today. These choices are governed by the utility of the material with respect to its use, availability and mechanical properties as well as its reflectance properties. As a consequence of this wide variety of target materials, a standardization procedure is essential in order to keep the community of related users producing consistent data when quantitative backscatter cross-section measurements are conducted.
