Abstract

The performance of coherent laser radar (CLR) is determined by the transmitter-receiver aperture and the geometry of the transmitter and Local Oscillator (LO) field. The detector is assumed to have uniform quantum efficiency ηQ and collects all the energy of the LO beam. The detector noise is assumed to be dominated by LO shot noise.
