Abstract

Atmospheric aerosol backscatter measurements using lidar systems are generally referenced to radiometric calibrations against standard scattering targets with known reflectance. Uncertainty in backscatter measurements is due in part to uncertainty in the calibration measurements and target reflectance. For retrieval of good quality backscatter measurements, it is extremely important to minimize errors/biases that may be present in lidar calibration.
