Abstract

Two micrometer solid state lasers(1-5) have received considerable attention for detection of wind velocities as well as for remote sensing of carbon dioxide and water vapor in the atmosphere. High-power Q-switched holmium lasers are also useful for generating tunable mid-infrared radiation for optical remote sensing and/or infrared counter measure systems.
