Abstract

Cirrus gives strong returns to provide with relevant informations on atmospheric dynamics in the upper troposphere. However, multiple scattering plays a major role in dense media like clouds, which could be detrimental to the signal analysis. Thus, we study the importance of multiple scattering on wind remote sensing by a coherent lidar for the case of cirrus made of large particles compared to the wavelength.
