Abstract
We present an analysis of constraints imposed by the optics of a plenoptic wavefront sensor. We then derive the fundamental limit to the sensor’s effective sampling resolution and express it as a space-bandwidth product. We show that this effective sampling resolution increases with turbulence strength and establish the sensor architecture as a deep turbulence diagnostic.
