Phase-Diversity Homodyne Receiver for Coherent Optical Communications

Abstract

We develop a phase-diversity homodyne optical receiver, where the carrier-phase drift is estimated with digital signal processing on the homodyne-detected signal. Multi-level phase-shift keying (PSK) signals up to 8-PSK are successfully demodulated at 10 Gsymbol/s.
