Correlation between Intensity Fluctuations in a Stochastic Electromagnetic Beam and the Degree of Cross-polarization

Abstract

It is shown that the knowledge of the degree of coherence and of polarization is not adequate to determine correlations measured in the Hanbury Brown-Twiss experiment. A new statistical parameter, which we introduce, is also needed.
