Wavelength Dependence of Partial Optical Path Length in the Vascular Plexus of Reflected Light of the Skin

Abstract

The wavelength dependence of the partial optical path length in the vascular plexus in the dermis was experimentally estimated from the reflectance change caused by the venous occlusion. The partial optical path length in the vascular plexus and penetration depth of the reflected light strongly depend on the wavelength. The heterogeneity of the hemoglobin concentration in the dermis caused by the shallow and deep plexus significantly contributes to the wavelength dependence of the reflectance of the skin.
