Abstract

Devices based on diffractive waveplates exhibit diffraction characteristics that are dependent on the polarization and wavelength of light. In applications, switchability, polarization independence, and wavelength independence are often desirable. Here we report on recent developments of diffractive optical elements that have various combinations of switchability, polarization independence, and broad wavelength coverage.
