Deep Regression Outperforms Conditional GAN Mapping on Reconstructing Double Shells of ICF Images

Abstract

Deep convolutional-neural-network based regression following a customized denoising protocol with/without a super-resolution process considerably outperforms the state-of-the-art GAN based pix2pix image translation on restoring double-shell structure of ICF images and serves as a potential domain-transfer classifier.
