Probing spin transfer effects with a nitrogen-vacancy center in diamond

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Spin transfer (ST) torques can be used to damp and anti-damp the magnetic dynamics of ferromagnetic nanostructures. We detect such effects using a single proximal nitrogen-vacancy center spin, observing parametrically-driven, ST anti-damped magnetic oscillations as well as ST damping of stray field noise consistent with cooling to ~150K.
