Seeing the light through diamonds: Direct detection of extrasolar planet

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We have during the last 10 years been working on realizing a coronagraph consisting of a circular subwavelength grating in diamond. The design and fabrication technologies are described. The coronagraphs are installed in world leading ground-based telescopes for the search of extrasolar planets, and on sky observations are presented.
