Elastic Scattering Spectroscopy for Detection of Sentinel Lymph Node Metastases in Breast Carcinoma

Abstract

Sentinel node biopsy is the new standard for lymphatic staging of breast carcinoma. Elastic scattering spectroscopy offers the potential for near-instantaneous detection of sentinel node metastases with an accuracy approaching that of existing pathological techniques.
