Abstract

A burst-mode laser diode driver for 10G-EPON with a burst-by-burst power-saving function reduces power consumption by 93% while the laser is turned off. A quick laser turn-on time of 15 ns is successfully achieved, including the power settling time. More than a 30% mask margin is obtained 50 ns after the laser turns on.
