Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate for the first time hitless spectrum defragmentation using the wavelength sweep capability of real-time digital coherent receivers over entire C-band. The network simulations of blocking performance and its dependence on wavelength sweep speed confirm the feasibility of spectrum defragmentation.
