Abstract

We experimentally verify that the noise-to-power ratio method precisely characterizes nonlinear distortion caused by the interaction among modulation, chromatic dispersion, and detection in the DFB laser-based IM-DD transmission system. The equivalent additive noise model estimates the system performance with the accuracy of 0.5 dB.
