56 Gbaud PAM-4 Transmission Equalization using Implicitly Masked Parallel Micro-Ring Resonator Reservoir Computing

Abstract

We show that variation of the coupling ratios of parallel micro-ring resonators can replace masking in time-delay reservoir computing while being line-speed capable. Superior BER performance is demonstrated compared to previous photonic reservoirs and Kramers-Kronig DSP for a 100 km 56 Gbaud PAM-4 transmission.
