Abstract

We experimentally show that phase-sensitively preamplified links have higher spectral efficiency than using conventional amplifiers at low signal-to-noise ratios. At 10 Gbaud, 4QAM modulation provides the best spectral efficiency at received powers below -59.7 dBm and 16-QAM from -59.7 dBm to -55.2 dBm.
