Evaluation of NGMI in 128-Gbuad PAM4 O-Band 10-km Transmission Using MLSE Based on Nonlinear Channel Estimation and Decision Feedback

Abstract

We demonstrate 128-Gbaud PAM4 transmission with 3-dB bandwidth of 20 GHz and show that advanced MLSE schemes achieve the higher performance not only in BER but also in NGMI. The NGMI deviates from the theoretical value because a simple method is utilized for LLR calculation.
